Description
The exhibition "Intellectual Property" at the Gallery at Still River Editions features archival digital print editions of new work by multi-disciplinary Connecticut artist Gene Gort. His new series reveals a hidden beauty that emerges from his interaction with the technology meant to keep people from illegally copying movies. Some of the prints have elements that look familiar, while others are pure geometric abstracts.

"Intellectual Property (2011)
Images in this project are derived from copyrighted DVDs of mainstream films. The titles are selected for their irony and not for any relation to the plot or narrative content of the films. Video has been extracted using various software and then re-compressed. The images are a result of copyright encryption and the extraction process. Stills are then isolated and screen grabs are taken of the video frames."

Description
The Gallery at Still River Editions has hosted national and regional photographers and artists since 1989. In 2011, the Gallery is returning to hosting shows on a quarterly basis of both traditional and digital prints of photographs and fine artwork.
The Gallery at Still River Editions is open during normal business hours 8:30am - 5 pm Monday through Friday, and during posted hours for special events. The Gallery does not accept unsolicited submissions at this time.
