Saturday, July 7, 4pm to 9:30pm
Riverfest will be held on Saturday, July 7th, 2012 at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza, Hartford and Founders Plaza and Great River Park, East Hartford. Rain date: Sunday, July 8
Riverfest features free entertainment including live bands, musicians, clowns and other walk-a-bout entertainers, kids activities and more. A dazzling fireworks show over the river highlights this traditional Hartford festival.

SIMSBURY: Talcott Mountain Music Festival
The outdoor concert is Friday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows, 22 Iron Horse Boulevard. Gates open at 6 p.m. A family activity tent will be open from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 to $45. Lawn tickets for children 12 and younger are $5. NEW BRITAIN: Great American Boom
The annual Great American Boom will be held on July 4 at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain. Starting at 5 p.m. there will be attractions, food vendors and live entertainment, all culminating in a fireworks display at 9:15. Information: http://ww2.newbritainct.gov/liv_prknrec.html.
STONINGTON: July 4 Parade
The annual Stonington July 4 Parade will start at 11:30 on the southwest corner of Wadawanuck Square, Stonington Borough. The traditional march to Cannon Square will be followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Information: www.stoningtonhistory.org.
STURBRIDGE, MASS.: Old Sturbridge Village celebrates Independence Day
The firework portion of this event has been canceled due to flooding and tornado damage. All daytime activities at Old Sturbridge Village will continue as planned on July 3, and a full slate of Independence Day celebrations are set for Monday, July 4, including a Citizens¿ Parade and reading of the Declaration of Independence. Although the tornado touched down in some of OSV¿s outlying fields, no museum exhibit buildings were damaged. The Village is fully operational, and open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Countryside opens for fireworks seating at 7:30 p.m., with seating limited to designated areas. Regular daytime admission applies, evening fireworks tickets are $15. Information: www.osv.org.
July 4
Old Sturbridge Village's historic Independence Day celebration on July 4 features family activities and a lively fireworks display. Sack races, pie eating contests and historic militia marching are just some of the ongoing events. The site is open regular hours from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and during the special evening program from 6 to 10 p.m.
SATURDAY, June 30th
July 4th Extravaganza at the Wharf in Norwich There will be a carnival all weekend however the firework show will commence at 9pm on Saturday night.
Lime Rock Park Fireworks Extravaganza Gates open at 6pm. Refreshments will be available but best to bring a family picnic. Fireworks begin at dark.
Candlewood Lake Fireworks Fireworks begin at dusk.
SUNDAY, July 1st
Town of Darien Fireworks Held at the local high school. Preorder your picnic baskets at Palmers Market. Gates open at 6pm.
TUESDAY, July 3rd
Norwalk Fireworks Celebration Calf Pasture Beach. Shows begin for kids at 5:30. Live bands perform before fireworks start.
Shelton Fireworks Entertainment provided by Highland Rovers, an Irish Rock band. Fireworks begin at dusk.
Stratford Fireworks Concert on the deck near the concession stand at 7pm. Lynn Lewis will perform for the kids at 7:30 at Full's Landing Miniature Golf. Fireworks begin at 9:30.
Danbury Fair Mall Fireworks begin at dusk.
Westport Fireworks Arrive early and enjoy the playground and beach before the fireworks begin at dusk. Tickets needed prior to the event.
4th of July Fireworks in Vernon Fireworks held at dark. Donations accepted.
WEDNESDAY, 4th of JULY
Wilton's 4th of July Celebration Start the day with a Freedom Run Road Race at 8:30am. At 2:30 the annual Republicans vs. Democrats softball game takes place followed by bands performing throughout the day until the fireworks at 9:30 pm. Parking pass must be purchase prior.
4th of July Fireworks at Lake Compounce Enjoy the day at the amusement park followed with fireworks at 10pm.
July 4th Pet Parade and Turn-of-the-Century Fest in Litchfield The old fashioned pet parade begins at 2:!5. After the parade, enjoy The Turn of the Century Fest will include sack races, tug of war and an ice cream social.
Push and Pull Parade in Darien This is the 8th year that children are invited to ride their patriotic decorated bikes, scooter and wagons in the parade. Starts at 10:30 am sharp. There will be entertainment at 10am.
4th of July Celebration in Washington Pass must be purchase prior. Gates open at 3pm at Shepaug High School. Fireworks start at dark. Bring a picnic or purchase burgers at the food stand.
Weston's Family 4th of July Celebration 4:30 the ticket gates open. Live music, magic show. Fireworks begin at 9:20. Bring your blanket and chairs.
Fairfield's Fourth of July Celebration Fireworks begin just after dark from a barge off of Long Island Sound. Bands will be playing at Penfield and Jennings beaches. Parking is free but will fill up early.
Ridgefield 2012 Fireworks Pass must be purchased prior for parking. Gates open at 6pm Fireworks at dusk.
Rowayton Civic Association Fireworks $20 fee to park at Bayley Beach. Will fill up early. Lottery held for picnic tables at the beach at noon that day. Fireworks begin at dusk.
Independence Day at Mystic Seaport Games, Civil War re-enacting exercises, parade, concerts, old fashioned spelling bee. All included in the regular admission price.
FRIDAY, July 6th
Windsor Locks Fire Department Carnival and Fireworks Carnival held July 5th - 7th. Fireworks at 9:30pm on Friday.
SATURDAY, July 7th
Hartford Riverfest and Fireworks Free entertainment and kids activites along the river. Firework show at dark.
Torrington Fourth of July Fireworks Carnival rides, live music and entertainment provided by the Warner Theatre and the St. Peters Drum Corps. Firewroks begin at dark.
Binney Park Independence Day Celebration The Sound Beach Community Band will perform at 7:30pm. Fireworks will begin at dusk.
New Milford Fireworks Firework show at dark during the New Milford Carnival.
SUNDAY, July 8th
Enfield 4th of July Town Celebration This weekend event is free for residents. The grand finale of the celebration is the largest firework show in northern CT. Bring blankets and chairs. Show begins at 9:45

Back from the Brink! The Barnum Museum has been completely closed to the general public since January 2011 and the historic portion closed ever since the June 24, 2010 tornado hit Bridgeport. A unique exhibition called Recovery in Action will be presented on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the People’s United Bank Gallery starting on April 26. Recovery in Action will allow visitors to gain insight into the complexities of a disaster recovery in a museum setting.
The Museum’s collection of unique artifacts, including Tom Thumb’s miniature carriages and P.T. Barnum’s ornate furniture, will be among the many items on view. But instead of a traditional display, they will be shown in their “evacuation” spaces, where they were out loaded from the historic structure. Visitors will see how the Museum has devised a safe home for its collections while restoration of the historic building is underway. Although it will not be possible to take tours of the damaged building, visitors will often be able to observe a conservator at work on some of the artifacts that were damaged by the tornado, as well as see many items that have already received conservation treatments.
Visitors are asked to enter through the double doors at the back of the historic building, where it is connected to People’s United Bank. The front doors are closed.
